While you are not required to have your exact birth time to have your free chart drawn, it is much more accurate for chart analysis and interpretation if you do have the exact time. For an unknown birth time it is common practice for the astrologer to use a solar or Sun on Ascendant chart with a time of 12:00 noon. It is the opinion of most astrologers that this gives the best "read" of the person in the absence of the exact birth time.

An astrology chart is a circle divided into 12 sections called houses, numbered 1-12. The first house has characteristics similar to the the first sign of the zodiac, Aries. The second is like Taurus and on up through the 12th which is like Pisces. While you will learn much about a person by studying their Sun sign, there are further revelations to be found by studying the placement of the planets in the houses of a person's chart, as well as what sign each planet is in , what the person's Ascendant might be - just to name a few important items to consider.

Astrology charts are graphic representations of the skies overhead at the time and place of a person's birth. They are by necessity "geocentric", that is to say the earth is the center with the other planets sun and moon revolving around it. That is how things appeared to the the ancients, and while we know this isn't true today- that we are really in a heliocentric or sun centered solar system, the normal method for calculating a chart is the geocentric and is how your free astrology chart is drawn.
